Blessing for people going on a journey:

Gracious Father,

maker of all the world,

bless these friends as they prepare for their journey.

Be with them on every road,

on every hill, meadow and stream,

under cloud, under stars,

through storm and in sunshine.

Guard them O Father,

protect them O Christ,

guide them O Holy Spirit,

now, and in weariness,

now, and in delight,

now, and in danger,

now, and in journey’s ending.

Enfold them in your love,

and surround them with your care,

that they may sing your song

every step of the way.

God bless the road that is before you;

God bless the friends who are around you;

God bless to you His love which is within you.

Inspired by ancient Celtic ‘journey prayers’

At St Thomas’s, they were met by many of the congregation, family and friends.  The Reverend Cannon David Linaker said another prayer at 10am – before sending the Pilgrims on their way to Canterbury!
